What do you know about VoIP?

Hello, today I was chatting with one of my students who asked about VoIP. He is currently study for Network+ certification and has found out that VoIP will be included in the new 2009 Network+ objectives. None of the current Network+ textbooks on the market carry information on this. That’s where a quick search of the internet may help.;-) A quick search found the following information posted by Liverpool John Moores University.  Which you may find useful.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), sometimes called Voice over Broadband, or Internet telephony, is simply a way to use your existing broadband connection to place voice calls over the Internet, using your PC or laptop plus a set of headphones, or a telephone-like handset, instead of using a phone line.
