There are strong arguments to train for a career in IT regardless of state of the economy. In times of recession, undertaking such training makes sense as it will improve your marketability when the economy picks up. In a booming economy, your chances of securing employment in the IT industry will rise markedly if you have completed your training. So what else should you consider when weighing up the pros and cons of training for a career in IT?
1. The maths: On the basis that most IT jobs pay £25,000 per annum or more, the case for someone earning £20,000 per annum is strong. Most accredited training course can be bought on the internet for a £1,000 or less meaning that your course will pay for itself in just a few months. Reputable training providers offer courses which are of high quality and often come with tutorial support.
2. It’s not all about computer programming: There are many and varied roles in IT to suit different types of people ranging from help desk support, to website design to database administrator. As always, the ability to communicate effectively and work in an organized manner will enhance your prospects of a good career in IT.
